GENERAL
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Application Instructions & Information
|
Application
Please complete the application form and submit it along with
the non-refundable Application Fee and the appropriate Accommodation
Placement Fee and deposit, if requesting placement. If you
require an I-20 Form to secure a student (F-1) Visa, please
provide certification that sufficient funds will be available
to meet both your tuition and living expenses while studying.
California Coast Language Academy accepts students 16 years
old and older.
California Coast Language Academy accepts new students
each session. All students take a mandatory placement test
offered at 2:00 PM the first Monday of every session. Following
that, there is an orientation to the school and the area.
Classes begin on Tuesday.
Late Booking Express Delivery
If you apply less than 30 days before your course start date
and require an I-20, you will be invoiced an additional fee
($75.00) to cover express delivery charges.
Payment of Fees
All tuition, services fees, and housing costs (one month)
must be paid at least 30 days before your course begins.
Medical Insurance
F-1 visa students at California Coast Language Academy
must have medical insurance coverage, or sign a waiver. If
you wish to use your own insurance, you must show proof of
coverage upon arrival. CCLASD
medical insurance costs $65.00 for 4 weeks (or $20.00 per
week after a minimum 4-week period). Medical insurance coverage
starts from the first day of classes.
Financial Certification
If you require an I-20 Form, fax or mail original certification
that sufficient funds will be available for both your tuition
and living expenses while studying at CCLASD
Each one of the following documents (in English) is an acceptable
form of certification:
- A current personal bank statement or letter from your
bank.A letter of support from your parents/sponsor stating
that they will be responsible for your expenses during
your stay, and a bank statement or bank letter verifying
their financial ability to meet your expenses.A letter guaranteeing financial support from a sponsoring
organization
- A scholarship letter from your government.

The I-20 Form can only be issued
after you have submitted your financial certification, signed
application, and application fee.
If you fax these documents you will also need to mail all
originals to us within 2 weeks. Since you will need to present
financial documentation to the US consular officer when applying
for a student visa, we suggest that you make sufficient copies
of all financial documentation for both CCLASD and visa application purposes.
Course Confirmation & Acceptance Packet
You should receive written notice of your acceptance within
5 days of our receipt of your complete application. Along
with your acceptance letter, you will receive information
about the school, life in the US, airport transfers, and health
insurance. You will also receive your I-20 Form (if required).
Airport Escort
California Coast Language Academy can provide airport service
($50.00) with a representative greeting you at the airport
and transporting you to the school, your residence club, or
homestay. We must receive your flight information at least
7 days prior to your arrival to provide airport transfer service.
Transfer fees will not be refunded if you fail to inform us
of any changes in your itinerary at least 2 business days
prior to your arrival. If California Coast Language Academy
fails to provide pick-up as agreed, compensation shall not
exceed the original transfer fee.
Accommodation
California Coast Language Academy offers accommodation
in residence clubs and homestays. Prices vary by meal and
bath options. Housing availability varies depending on the
time of year. Students must be at least 18 to participate
in the Residence Club Housing Program.
School Holidays
California Coast Language Academy is closed during the
following periods for school holidays. Course hours lost due
to holidays are not rescheduled.

Institutional TOEIC Examination
The institutional TOEIC and the institutional TOEFL exam are
given once per month. You must sign up in advance. The cost
is $60 per exam.
Books and School Supplies
Books must be purchased separately. Please expect to spend
between $30-50 every 3, 4 and 10 -week session.
Academic Policies and Rules
As a California Coast Language Academy student you are
subject to the California Coast Language Academy rules
and regulations. Regular attendance is expected. Excessive
absences (20% or more of the course) may result in suspension
or failure.
You will be graded on a weekly basis and are expected to master
the course objectives through homework, quizzes, and participation.
Satisfactory performance must be achieved before you continue
at a higher level of instruction.
Buyer's Right to Cancel
Prior to the first day of instruction, you have the right
to cancel your course and receive a 100% refund of the amount
paid for educational fees, less the Application Fee ($105.00),
Placement Fees (Accommodation), and any Medical Insurance
Fees paid. If Express delivery and/or are incurred they will
not be refunded.
Visa Denial Provision
If you are applying for an F-1 visa to study in the US, and
your application is refused for any reason, you will receive
a 100% refund of all tuition fees paid. The Application Fee
($105.00), Placement Fees (Accommodation or Internship), and
Express delivery fees will not be refunded. You must return
your I-20 Form by mail in order to receive a refund.
Cancellation after Course Start or Withdrawal
If you wish to cancel your course on or after the first day
of instruction, the first four weeks of tuition are non-refundable.
If you cancel your course after the first four weeks of instruction,
but before you have completed 60% of your course, a prorate
refund will be provided in the following situations: a) transfer
to another school, b) return to your country of residence,
c) admittance into a college or university, or d) have a valid
personal reason. After the 60% point of a course, no refund
will be made. Refund amounts are calculated using the minimum
unit of one week, not by individual days. Note: If you are
enrolling (i.e. paying) on a month-to-month basis, each new
time you enroll or extend, the above four weeks' rule will
apply.
Refund Example

You enroll for 10 weeks of the
Intensive English Program course and pay $2,650 in tuition.
You want to withdraw after 3 weeks, and present evidence of
admission to a university. Your refund is calculated as follows:
3 weeks out of 10 weeks = 30% completed

You may only alter your program after you have completed a
minimum of 4 weeks or your initial term of enrollment, whichever
is shorter. An example of altering your program is changing
from morning to evening classes. Altering your program is
NOT considered withdrawal or cancellation.
Accommodation Cancellation and Refunds
Please note that accommodation fees are not considered part
of the educational charges. Accommodation Placement fees are
non-refundable. If you wish to cancel your accommodation after
it has been confirmed, you will be charged a $250 cancellation
fee. To change accommodation after arrival, at least 4-weeks'
notice must be given (otherwise 4 weeks' fees will be charged).
The school will pay or credit any refunds within 30 days
from the date of notice. Notification of cancellation or withdrawal
must be made in writing.
Extending Your Course
Course extensions are possible if you provide 7 days notice.
All additional course fees must be paid in advance directly
to California Coast Language Academy or through your representative.
Liability
California Coast Language Academy and its staff and representatives
will not be liable for loss, damage, or injury to persons
or property, howsoever caused, except where liability is expressly
imposed beyond exclusion by statute. CCLASD will not be liable in the event that services contracted
become impossible to supply by reason of any cause outside
of the control of California Coast Language Academy.
California Coast Language Academy is registered within
the State of California. Registration means we have met minimum
standards imposed by the state for registered schools on the
basis of our written application to the state. Registration
does not mean that we have met the more extensive standards
required by the state for schools that are approved to operate
or licensed or that the state has verified the information
we submitted with our registration form. CCLASD does not participate in the Student Tuition Recovery
Fund. |
